The Bachelor of Science (Honours) is a specialized fourth-year program designed for graduates holding undergraduate degrees in Science, Information Technology, or Mathematical Sciences. This program prepares students for advanced research degrees or professional careers requiring sophisticated research capabilities.
The honours curriculum includes a major research project alongside coursework covering research methods, academic communication, and literature review development. More than half of the program focuses on the research component, which concludes with an Honours thesis submission. This course aims to cultivate the skills and experience necessary for postgraduate research endeavors.
Available study areas span professional computing (for students with adequate IT backgrounds) and research-focused disciplines such as Biomedical Science, Biotechnology, Environmental and Conservation Science, Food and Nutrition, Geoscience, Mathematical Sciences, and Veterinary and Wildlife Science.
Through the research project, students can deeply explore their chosen field while honing critical investigative skills. The program emphasizes locating and analyzing current research publications, developing comprehensive research plans, conducting experiments, and documenting findings. Students also learn to effectively present their work through seminars and thesis writing, developing vital communication skills for sharing research outcomes.
