ECU's Environmental Engineering research focuses on creating eco-friendly solutions to mitigate the harmful impacts of human actions on air, soil, and water ecosystems.
Key areas of study encompass pollution control, climate adaptation, water resource management, land utilization issues, and waste production from both industrial and domestic sources. While customized postgraduate research projects are designed in collaboration with academic advisors, we especially welcome applicants passionate about: Cutting-edge technological innovations; Water purification methods that reduce carbon emissions; Stormwater collection and recycling; Desalination paired with clean energy; Water quality enhancement through aeration; Cost-effective sediment elimination; Sustainable power production and eco-conscious waste handling. Our research team is currently engaged in studies exploring agricultural byproducts for wastewater metal removal, combined desalination approaches, and sophisticated water purification methods. The School boasts state-of-the-art laboratory facilities featuring comprehensive water treatment systems including dissolved air flotation, adsorption units, anaerobic treatment setups, advanced oxidation processes, biofilm reactors, deep filtration mechanisms, and precipitation/flocculation systems.
