Upon completing this degree, you'll qualify to apply for accreditation as an Exercise Physiologist through Exercise and Sports Science Australia (ESSA). As an Exercise Physiologist, you'll assist individuals in enhancing their wellbeing and recovering from injuries or chronic illnesses through tailored exercise programs. This comprehensive 4-year full-time program equips you with expertise in clinical exercise prescription, lifestyle interventions, and wellness initiatives for diverse populations, including those with chronic conditions, disabilities, or injuries, as well as healthy individuals.
The demand for skilled professionals in this field is projected to rise with population growth and aging, creating career prospects in hospitals, corporate health programs, rehabilitation centers, aged care facilities, and sports organizations. You can pursue this degree through traditional on-campus learning with weekly lectures and labs, or opt for a blended approach combining online coursework (lectures, tutorials, seminars) with intensive on-campus lab sessions twice each semester.
Important: Graduates of the Bachelor of Science (Exercise and Sports Science) program (with relevant electives) who wish to specialize in exercise rehabilitation can transition to this course and become accredited Exercise Physiologists with just one additional year of study.
