A sonographer is a specialized healthcare expert trained to use ultrasound technology for conducting diagnostic medical scans. With ultrasound becoming a preferred initial diagnostic tool in various healthcare environments, Australia is experiencing a growing need for qualified sonographers.
This program will equip you with expertise in anatomical structures, physiological functions, disease processes, ultrasound equipment handling, image interpretation, patient evaluation, and other essential skills. The curriculum forms part of a 4-year ASAR-accredited pathway. Students must obtain Accredited Student Sonographer status before their initial clinical placement. After finishing both the Bachelor of Preclinical Foundations of Imaging Science (T78) and the Graduate Diploma in Medical Sonography (T77), graduates can apply for Accredited Medical Sonographer certification. The Graduate Diploma program will launch in 2027.
