Pursuing a PhD at the Institute for Frontier Materials (IFM) provides exceptional research training to prepare you for diverse career paths. The Doctor of Philosophy program typically spans three years. Our scholars engage in cutting-edge projects involving electromaterials, fiber and textile technologies, carbon fiber composites, infrastructure materials, micro-nano materials, and advanced metallic alloys.
At IFM, doctoral candidates experience distinctive research preparation designed to support various professional trajectories.
To be considered for selection into a Higher Degrees by Research (HDR) degree, you are required to have completed either:
a research project in a related area including a thesis which is equivalent to at least 25% of a year's full-time study at Level 8 or 9 of the Australian Qualifications Framework with achievement of a grade for the project equivalent to a Deakin grade of 70% or equivalent
a masters degree (research) in a related area

C1 ADVANCED and C2 PROFICIENCY: 176 No band less than 169
PTE: 58 No less than 50 in each skill
