This Doctor of Philosophy program enables you to expand your expertise in a selected biology or chemistry subject via independent, sustained research under academic supervision.
Under the mentorship of our globally recognized research faculty in the Science, Engineering and Built Environment department, you'll conduct studies to gain comprehensive mastery of complex knowledge in one or more specialized fields. By producing significant original contributions through a thesis of up to 50,000 words, you'll establish yourself as a specialist in your chosen domain while enhancing your professional opportunities.
To be considered for selection into a Higher Degrees by Research (HDR) degree, you are required to have completed either:
a research project in a related area including a thesis which is equivalent to at least 25% of a year's full-time study at Level 8 or 9 of the Australian Qualifications Framework with achievement of a grade for the project equivalent to a Deakin grade of 70% or equivalent
a higher degree by research (HDR) in a related area

C1 ADVANCED and C2 PROFICIENCY: 176 No band less than 169
PTE: 58 No less than 50 in each skill
OET: Overall C+
