This Doctor of Philosophy program enables you to expand your expertise in a selected area of architecture and the built environment through self-directed, sustained, and rigorous academic investigation. You'll work under the guidance of a primary supervisor - a full-time faculty member with research experience - along with additional associate supervisors who may be internal or external to the institution. The program may involve specific attendance obligations and culminates in a thesis presenting original research findings in your chosen specialization.
Prospective students will connect with potential supervisors to develop research proposals. The PhD typically takes two to four years of full-time study (or equivalent part-time), with flexible options for either on-campus or online participation.
To be considered for selection into a Higher Degrees by Research (HDR) degree, you are required to have completed either:
a research project in a related area including a thesis which is equivalent to at least 25% of a year's full-time study at Level 8 or 9 of the Australian Qualifications Framework with achievement of a grade for the project equivalent to a Deakin grade of 70% or equivalent
