Deakin's Bachelor of Zoology and Animal Science program allows you to examine how human activities affect animals and their habitats from both social and economic perspectives. Study animal adaptations to environmental shifts, particularly climate change, with special emphasis on Australia's distinctive wildlife and its global ecological significance. Gain hands-on experience using modern research methods to evaluate real-world scenarios while building industry-relevant skills in data-driven decision making.
Through laboratory and fieldwork with live specimens, you'll develop practical knowledge of animal biology and the fundamental processes shaping their ecology and evolutionary paths. The curriculum also covers broader patterns of animal responses to environmental transformations across time. Throughout your studies, you'll benefit from guidance by faculty members who are equally enthusiastic about animal science.
