Over 7% of Australia's disease burden stems from unhealthy eating habits. Pursue Deakin's Bachelor of Nutrition Science to address critical societal issues like disease prevention, lifelong nutrition, obesity, combating misinformation, and understanding food's psychological and social impacts. Our commercial-style facilities, including food prep areas, analysis labs, and two sensory labs, provide authentic hands-on training that prepares students for professional environments.
Complete a minimum of 75 hours of industry placement for practical workplace experience. These opportunities equip you with vital skills to enhance health through nutrition – expertise that's growing more valuable as society confronts nutrition-related health challenges. The program also offers a direct route to the Master of Dietetics, where Deakin graduates receive priority for 60% of available spots.

To be considered for an undergraduate course, you need to meet Deakin’s entry and course-specific requirements, as well as the English language minimum prerequisites.
Non-Year 12 applicants with:
higher education study
Vocational Education and Training (VET) study
work and life experience Or
completed Year 12 in 2021 or earlier.
Completion of one of the following:
2 credit points in an AQF Level 7 bachelor degree
certificate IV or higher in a related discipline
a diploma or higher in any discipline
at least 50% completion of a diploma or higher in a related discipline relevant work and life experience.
