Sociology examines human society through an academic lens. Our research investigates societal transformations and the influence of social frameworks, organizations, and cultural norms on people and groups. At Deakin, we address modern challenges in both global and Australian contexts, analyzing how health policies, gender identity, religious movements, migration patterns, social disparities, and systems of control interact with society. Our sociology faculty conducts cutting-edge research using diverse approaches like digital ethnography, visual analysis, qualitative interviews, group discussions, surveys, and experimental techniques - equipping students with practical tools to analyze social dynamics.
