The Master of Predictive Analytics program meets the increasing need for skilled data scientists with both technical expertise and analytical capabilities to tackle big data challenges. This remains Australia's sole master's program specializing in predictive analytics.
This interdisciplinary degree offers four specialization options, allowing students to focus on specific application areas. The curriculum develops advanced competencies in data handling, mining, visualization, decision-making techniques, and predictive analysis, with particular emphasis on their implementation across various fields including engineering, networking, business, and finance.
Students gain hands-on experience through industry-sponsored initiatives and can engage with Curtin University's collaborations via Innovation Central Perth and the Curtin Institute for Data Science.
Graduates will be equipped to address future 'big data' challenges, effectively integrate historical and predictive data with operational and financial information, and utilize probability assessments for improved decision-making. This program pioneered the practical application of data analytics and big data principles to enhance engineering operations in Australia.
The Resource Operations Analytics specialization focuses on applying data analysis and innovative technologies within the resources sector (including oil, gas, and mining). Students learn to anticipate operational engineering issues through predictive analytics and develop optimal management strategies. The curriculum covers industry fundamentals and explores how automation advancements connect with remote operations and decision-making in future automated engineering settings.
