The Master of Predictive Analytics program responds to the increasing need for skilled data scientists with both technical expertise and analytical capabilities to tackle big data challenges. This remains Australia's sole postgraduate program specializing in predictive analytics.
This interdisciplinary degree offers four specialization tracks, allowing students to focus on particular application areas. The curriculum develops advanced competencies in data handling, mining, visualization, decision-making techniques, and predictive modeling, emphasizing their practical implementation across diverse sectors including engineering, networking, business, and finance.
Students gain hands-on experience through industry-sponsored initiatives and can engage with Curtin University's collaborations via Innovation Central Perth and the Curtin Institute for Data Science.
Graduates will emerge prepared to address future 'big data' challenges, capable of integrating historical and predictive data with operational and financial information to enhance decision-making through probabilistic analysis.
The Data Science specialization strengthens core competencies in machine learning and project work while offering elective courses in artificial intelligence, statistics, IoT networking, cloud technologies, cybersecurity, and industrial automation. Alumni can pursue data analytics roles across various industries, often building upon their existing academic background and professional experience.
