The Master of Philosophy program is designed to extend your academic expertise beyond undergraduate honors or postgraduate diplomas, culminating in a research-based thesis. After earning this research-focused master's degree, you become eligible to apply for admission to a Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) program.
Research-based higher degrees stand apart from other postgraduate qualifications, requiring at least two-thirds of the program to focus on research. While some coursework may be included, the primary emphasis is on producing a thesis under the guidance of a primary supervisor and supporting advisors. Your thesis must demonstrate, in the examiners' judgment, a significant original contribution to any field of knowledge—whether through new discoveries, theoretical developments, or creative reinterpretations of existing data and concepts. Additionally, it should showcase your ability to independently design, execute, and complete research projects.
