The Master of Philosophy program seeks to advance knowledge beyond undergraduate honors or postgraduate diploma qualifications, with a research thesis as its final outcome. After earning this research-based master's degree, you can pursue admission to a Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) program.
Research-focused graduate degrees stand apart from other postgraduate programs, requiring at least two-thirds of the curriculum to involve research. While some coursework may be necessary, your primary focus will be a supervised thesis project. This thesis must represent, in the examiners' judgment, a significant original contribution to any field—whether through new discoveries, theoretical developments, or fresh interpretations of existing knowledge. Additionally, it should showcase your ability to independently plan, execute, and conclude research projects.
Curtin University offers the Master of Philosophy (MPhil) through various schools and departments, each with its specific CRICOS code. For detailed information, reach out to the Graduate Research School.
