Australia's sole postgraduate midwifery program that doesn't mandate a nursing background for admission is our Master of Midwifery. Domestic students benefit from Commonwealth Supported Places (CSP), receiving partial course fee subsidies from the Australian Government.
Registered midwives are healthcare specialists who provide essential support throughout pregnancy, delivery, and postpartum care. They practice in diverse settings including hospitals, clinics, community centers, birthing facilities, and home environments.
This two-year full-time or four-year part-time program combines theoretical knowledge with extensive clinical training, featuring over 1000 hours of supervised practice across biological, psychological, social, and physical sciences.
Students develop professional midwifery competencies through hands-on experience across all stages of childbirth. The curriculum includes following 30 expectant mothers through their entire pregnancy journey - conducting prenatal visits, offering guidance to mothers and their partners, being available for labor and delivery, and providing postnatal care.
