This intensive 12-month master's program has been crafted to address evolving needs in the healthcare industry, both in Australia and worldwide, where there's growing demand for advanced clinical practitioners, healthcare leaders, and research expertise in specific medical fields.
As a pioneering program in Western Australia, it merges clinical specialization with research training, ideal for registered nurses, midwives, paramedics, and oral-health professionals seeking to build unique careers combining clinical work with research.
Students will acquire skills in evidence-based clinical practice, including healthcare policy standards and methods for implementing research findings in real-world settings.
The curriculum covers qualitative, quantitative, and mixed-method research approaches, along with ethical considerations for applied health research and evaluation.
Participants will gain in-depth knowledge of leadership roles in healthcare environments. The Clinical Leadership specialization can be pursued as a graduate certificate or within the Master of Advanced Practice, featuring clinical placements that foster interprofessional teamwork. This specialization is offered in semesters 1 and 2 at Curtin's Perth and Singapore campuses, and is open to international students on Australian student visas.
You must hold a recognised bachelor degree or graduate degree with a high course weighted average (greater than 70 per cent). It is essential that you have successfully completed a research unit and a human biology-related unit at tertiary level. If you have not completed these units, you may be able to study them through the Health Sciences Graduate Entry Foundation course.
