This program offers an introduction to modern design principles and research, establishing a solid foundation for design-driven innovation and its implementation across social, economic, and cultural contexts.
Serving as a gateway to advanced studies in the Master of Design program, it also prepares students for careers as designers, design leaders, or strategists. After completing the graduate certificate, students can progress to the graduate diploma, and subsequently enroll in the master's degree upon successful completion.
Throughout the course, you will: Gain fundamental expertise in your design specialization by creating new artifacts, services, products, or systems. Utilize specialized knowledge, theories, and frameworks to guide innovation through design leadership. Critically examine design theory, practice, and history within social and cultural frameworks. Employ design thinking to analyze challenges and develop effective solutions. Present concepts, proposals, and final designs professionally to target audiences. Recognize the intricate, global nature of current design practices. Leverage emerging technologies to enhance design processes and articulate design's significance. Adapt design methodologies for practical industry applications. Appreciate and implement design's value for communities, organizations, and public sectors.
Applicants generally require a Bachelor Degree or equivalent credit gained for recognised learning. Any specific course entry and completion requirements must also be met.
