As a PhD candidate, you'll explore uncharted territory by discovering new information, creating theoretical frameworks, or offering fresh perspectives on existing data and concepts. Your work will apply deep theoretical understanding to devise practical approaches for addressing real-world challenges.

Research-based graduate programs differ significantly from other postgraduate studies, requiring at least two-thirds of your program to focus on original investigation. While some coursework may be necessary, your primary output will be a thesis developed under expert supervision. This dissertation must represent, according to evaluators, a meaningful novel contribution to any field through either new discoveries, theoretical advancements, or creative reinterpretations of existing knowledge. Additionally, it should showcase your ability to independently plan, execute, and conclude research projects.

During your academic journey, our university will equip you with necessary tools and materials while offering funding support for relevant domestic and international conference participation.

Curtin has earned global recognition for its practical research aimed at tackling genuine societal issues. Our collaborative approach with corporate, industrial, and governmental partners leads to impactful outcomes that serve local, national, and international communities. This reputation for industry-aligned research creates exceptional opportunities for our graduates to emerge as pioneers in their respective disciplines.
