The Doctor of Philosophy represents the University's premier research qualification and serves as the fundamental requirement for pursuing careers in research or academia. This program involves an independent, supervised research initiative collaboratively designed by the student, their academic supervisors, and the Head of School. The PhD demands the formulation and execution of a thorough research strategy, grounded in comprehensive literature review and addressing knowledge gaps through novel theoretical approaches. Candidates must attain provisional candidacy within the designated timeframe (6 months) as the program's initial phase. Additionally, they must complete and pass an introductory proposal development course along with other specified units during enrollment.
