As a PhD candidate, you'll explore uncharted territory by discovering new information, creating theoretical frameworks, or offering fresh perspectives on existing data and concepts. Your work will apply deep theoretical understanding to devise practical approaches for addressing real-world challenges.

Research-based graduate programs differ significantly from other postgraduate studies, requiring at least two-thirds of your program to focus on original investigation. While some coursework may be necessary, your primary output will be a thesis developed under expert supervision. This dissertation must represent, according to evaluators, a meaningful novel contribution to any field through new discoveries, theoretical advancements, or creative reinterpretations of existing knowledge. It should also showcase your ability to independently plan, execute, and conclude research projects.

During your academic journey, our faculties will equip you with necessary tools and materials for your investigations, along with funding support to participate in relevant conferences both domestically and internationally.

Curtin has earned widespread recognition for its practical research aimed at tackling genuine global challenges. Our collaborative approach with corporate, industrial, and governmental entities leads to impactful outcomes that serve local, national, and international communities. Our established reputation as a leader in industry-focused research provides graduates with exceptional opportunities to emerge as pioneers in their respective disciplines.
