Speech pathologists assist diverse individuals facing various communication difficulties, such as providing feeding guidance to parents of infants with cleft palates, supporting children with stutters to improve fluency, or helping adults recover communication abilities after strokes or brain injuries.
This program equips you with essential skills for the profession, deepening your knowledge of typical and acquired communication development, swallowing disorders, and clinical speech pathology practices.
Your initial year involves interprofessional studies alongside other health sciences students. Subsequent coursework concentrates on speech and language science, anatomy, and methods for evaluating, treating, and preventing functional impairments.
Through supervised placements at Curtin's on-campus clinics and various community settings, you'll gain hands-on experience while applying your knowledge. In your final year, you'll undertake a research project and complete your studies with an honours degree.
Students from different countries should have qualifications equivalent to Australian Year 12 and a scaled mark of at least 50 in English, Literature, or English as an Additional Language or Dialect.
