This honors program allows you to deepen your expertise in selected scientific fields: applied geology, chemistry, computer science, environment and agriculture, geographic information science, mathematical sciences, physics, or geophysics.
Building upon your undergraduate science education, this program lets you advance your studies in your chosen specialization – whether applied geology, chemistry, computer science, environment and agriculture, geographic information science, mathematical sciences, physics, or geophysics. You'll explore research methodologies while strengthening your analytical capabilities and creative thinking. The curriculum includes a guided research project culminating in an honors thesis presentation.
Participants will undertake an independent research initiative within environmental and marine science disciplines under faculty supervision, producing a comprehensive dissertation that requires preparation, submission, presentation, and defense. The program fosters essential research competencies, technical proficiency, professional development, and communication abilities for biological research, coupled with specialized subject knowledge. Thesis completion involves evaluating scientific literature, developing research inquiries and hypotheses, selecting appropriate methodologies and experimental frameworks, considering ethical implications, gathering and interpreting data, and producing publication-quality scientific writing.
