This course provides deep insights into the social, political, economic, and environmental determinants of health. You'll learn to design and execute health promotion initiatives like policy development, advocacy work, community education programs, or developmental projects, while assessing their impact and success.
During your first year, you'll explore core public health subjects such as biostatistics, epidemiology, human biology, and health within societal and cultural frameworks. In years two and three, you'll examine social equity issues and methods for enhancing healthcare access for underserved populations. The curriculum includes hands-on fieldwork experiences and an on-campus health promotion initiative.
Your final year features a 100-hour professional internship with a health promotion agency to refine practical skills before graduation. Additional opportunities include advancing your capabilities at CERIPH, Curtin Perth's internationally recognized research center, along with optional international study programs.
