Curtin's Bachelor of Laws program delivers the initial credential required to practice law in Australia. When paired with our Bachelor of Commerce degree – specializing in accounting, taxation, economics, finance, marketing, or human resource management – you'll incorporate a business industry perspective into your professional path.Our legal education provides a comprehensive and career-focused grounding in legal principles. You'll develop fundamental abilities crucial for successful legal work and establish solid commercial understanding. Early in your academic journey, you'll begin appreciating the significance of upholding the rule of law, alongside the duties and ethical standards of legal practice.You'll also have the opportunity to choose elective courses in fields like forensic advocacy, family law, human rights law, native title law and policy, and law and technology. These electives allow you to customize your education to match your personal interests.With a Bachelor of Commerce as your additional degree, you'll acquire business understanding and hands-on capabilities aligned with your selected specialization. This could prove valuable if you aim to pursue careers in commercial law, employment law, corporate governance; business policy development; or management and director roles.The initial three years of this program are conducted in semesters at Curtin Perth, while the fourth year plus one trimester takes place at Curtin Law School's Perth City campus. Full-time students can complete both degrees in just 4.5 years.While studying in Perth's city center, you can obtain practical exposure through simulated proceedings in our advanced moot court and handling actual cases at the John Curtin Law Clinic. You'll significantly benefit from connections formed with academic staff, practicing solicitors, and barristers at Curtin Law School, as well as from the nearby Supreme Court, District Court, and Federal Court.
