Curtin's Bachelor of Laws program delivers the foundational qualification required to pursue legal practice in Australia. Pairing this with a Bachelor of Commerce – specializing in accounting, taxation, economics, finance, marketing, or human resource management – enhances your career with valuable business expertise.
Our law curriculum provides a comprehensive, practice-oriented legal education. You'll develop essential skills for legal professionals while cultivating sharp commercial acumen. Early in your studies, you'll appreciate the significance of upholding the rule of law and the ethical obligations inherent in legal practice.
The program offers elective units in diverse fields including forensic advocacy, family law, human rights law, native title law and policy, and law in the digital age. These electives allow you to customize your degree according to your professional interests.
By pursuing a Bachelor of Commerce as your dual degree, you'll acquire specialized business knowledge and practical skills tailored to your chosen field. This combination proves particularly valuable for careers in commercial law, employment law, corporate governance, policy development, or executive leadership roles.
The initial three years of this program follow a semester structure at Curtin Perth, with the fourth year plus an additional trimester conducted at Curtin Law School's Perth City campus. Full-time students can earn both degrees in just 4.5 years.
During your studies at the city campus, you'll gain hands-on experience through simulated court proceedings in our advanced moot court and by handling actual cases at the John Curtin Law Clinic. The program's location near major courts and its connections with legal professionals provide exceptional networking opportunities with academics, practicing lawyers, and judges.
