This course will equip you with the expertise and creative mindset needed to tackle complex industry and societal challenges, enabling you to make a meaningful impact. Developed by researchers at Curtin Business School, it aims to cultivate the next generation of innovators by incorporating our 'GRIT' principles—global, responsible, innovative, and technology-focused—alongside essential skills highlighted by the World Economic Forum for the 21st century. Throughout your studies, you will master innovation strategies, ethical innovation practices, global engagement, and decisive technology use to create solutions with positive social and industry effects. You will learn to apply critical business insights, creative thinking, and innovation skills within your chosen discipline, while benefiting from transformative experiences like regional and international study tours, hackathons, internships, and work-integrated learning opportunities. As an Innovation student, you can also participate in entrepreneurship programs such as Curtin Ignition and Curtin Accelerate, and attend executive education masterclasses tailored to help you launch your own enterprise. Aligned with the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals, this course promotes stewardship of First Nations Peoples and enhances your understanding of diverse cultural perspectives and communication for local, regional, and global contexts. You can build a multidisciplinary skill set by selecting one business major or two specialisation units from fields like business, humanities, science, and the Centre for Aboriginal Studies. In your first year, you will begin with core business and innovation units and plan how to tailor your degree for your ideal career by choosing a business major or two specialisations, which you will start in your second year alongside remaining core units. The course provides scaffolded opportunities to develop expertise through four transformative experiences, challenging you to apply innovation skills to solve real-world problems at local, regional, and global levels.
