The Engineering-Commerce double degree is an extended, optional program designed for engineering students seeking to enhance their business capabilities. This program provides additional expertise to strengthen your initial career phase after graduation. Your first year will include the Engineering Foundation Year (EFY), created through industry collaboration to establish a robust understanding of core engineering principles and contemporary practices. This combined degree enhances your business understanding and practical commerce abilities, preparing you for various professional paths. You'll complete six foundational business units (covering accounting, economics, information systems, business law, management, and marketing) to understand different business functions before selecting your specialization. The program develops essential communication abilities and professional competencies valued by employers. Additional opportunities include career counseling and international study options. A distinctive feature is the final-year Business capstone unit, where you'll manage a simulated multi-million dollar enterprise, applying your learning to create practical workplace solutions. Metallurgical engineers primarily focus on transforming raw metals and minerals into practical forms, such as producing steel from iron ore and coal. They extract, refine, and recycle metals and minerals used across multiple sectors including energy generation, food production, construction, and transportation. In this specialization, you'll learn to design, develop, optimize, and oversee metallurgical facilities that convert low-value raw materials into valuable mineral and metal products - while maintaining economic viability and environmental responsibility. You'll develop comprehensive knowledge of chemical and physical engineering, economic and environmental sustainability principles, and metal extraction processes. The program also incorporates significant management training.
Students from different countries should have qualifications equivalent to Australian Year 12 and a scaled mark of at least 50 in English, Literature, or English as an Additional Language or Dialect.
