Curtin's Bachelor of Engineering (Honours) provides an industry-focused education where you'll learn to create engineering solutions for complex societal and industrial problems.
Bachelor Degrees equip students with comprehensive knowledge and skills in their chosen field, preparing them for professional careers and further education at AQF level 7. The honours component develops advanced capabilities for professional practice, research, and continued learning at AQF level 8.
With a strong emphasis on problem-solving, Curtin's BEng (Hons) program teaches students to apply scientific, mathematical, data analysis, information technology, and computing principles to real-world situations. Students adopt a systems approach that prioritizes safety, ethics, environmental impact, respect for Indigenous knowledge, and compliance with professional standards. The course fosters lifelong learning, teamwork, leadership, project management, and career development opportunities.
Following the Engineering Foundation Year (EFY), students can choose from various majors starting in Year 2. They may also pursue an extension-specialization to enhance their major or select a specialization/minor to broaden their expertise. You'll develop the ability to: Understand core scientific, mathematical, and technological principles in engineering (GC1). Address significant electrical and electronic engineering challenges using integrated knowledge and sustainable design principles (GC1). Make ethical, climate-conscious engineering decisions while respecting Indigenous cultures and professional standards (GC4, GC5). Apply systems thinking to global engineering problems and conduct applied research (GC2).
Utilize emerging technologies to develop and communicate innovative solutions (GC3). Cultivate lifelong learning, teamwork, leadership, and project management skills for career advancement (GC6)
