This secondary education degree equips you for a fulfilling teaching career while allowing specialization in your chosen fields. You'll acquire essential knowledge and modern teaching methodologies tailored to contemporary students' needs. Choose to focus on one or two subject areas through specialized units covering both content knowledge and teaching approaches.
The program includes foundational courses in educational psychology, Indigenous studies, and inclusive education strategies for diverse learners.
Your training includes four intensive teaching placements in schools, conducted in full-time blocks regardless of study mode. Opportunities may exist for placements in rural locations, other states, or international schools.
Within the Bachelor of Education (Secondary), the Health and Physical Education specialization trains you to teach years 7-12 students. You'll master subject-specific instructional methods covering personal health, community wellbeing, and physical activity. The program develops practical skills and leadership qualities to enhance youth health and physical literacy, using technology-rich collaborative learning environments. Combining theory with practice, you'll complete 18 weeks of supervised school teaching and create a digital professional portfolio to demonstrate your teaching competencies to future employers.
