This early childhood teaching degree equips you with the essential skills, knowledge, and hands-on training required to educate young learners from infancy through age eight in various early education environments. These settings encompass childcare centers, kindergartens, preschools, and early primary classrooms.
The program covers child growth and development, core curriculum subjects, and the value of collaborating with families. Additionally, you'll select two specialized education electives to expand your expertise.
Throughout the program, you'll participate in four intensive teaching placements at schools or early learning facilities. These full-time practical experiences occur regardless of your study format, with potential opportunities for regional, interstate, or international placements.
Designed to prepare you for the workforce, this course focuses on the unique requirements of early childhood educators, equipping you with the necessary qualifications for teaching success. All coursework aligns with the Australian Professional Standards for Teachers and the Children's Education & Care Quality Framework. You'll develop a digital professional portfolio to demonstrate your teaching capabilities to future employers, completing 21 weeks of practical teaching experience - including a 10-week internship where you'll manage a classroom under an experienced teacher's guidance.
