The Taxation major offers comprehensive knowledge of tax regulations and their application in Australia and internationally.
You'll focus on specialized fields including income taxation, GST, fringe benefits tax, global taxation, tax administration, business structure tax considerations, and state-level taxes.
To complement your learning, you can participate in the Curtin Tax Clinic either as a volunteer or through an internship. This clinic works to support individuals' requirements and guide them through the tax system. You'll acquire hands-on experience handling diverse client tax issues and engage in community initiatives, such as visits to correctional facilities and isolated regions.
You'll visit the Australian Taxation Office and legal courts to observe taxation practices and legislation firsthand. Additionally, you'll have chances to join domestic and international educational trips and collaborate with pro-bono legal practices.
Upon graduation, you'll possess sought-after skills and be prepared to enter the dynamic, constantly evolving local and international tax sector.
