Agribusiness connects agricultural producers with consumers, covering the complete food production chain from farm to table. It also plays a crucial role in tackling worldwide issues like food security and farming practices amid volatile markets, climate variations, and evolving consumer preferences. In this program, you'll acquire scientific understanding and business fundamentals related to agriculture and production systems, including technologies for managing soil, crops, and livestock. Through individual and group work, you'll learn to apply problem-solving methods to management approaches and build skills in agribusiness risk and farm operations. You'll also take part in research-driven activities and independent experiments at Curtin's field-trial and glasshouse facilities. During your studies, you'll undertake a one-week work placement with an agricultural research, production, or business entity in Australia or abroad. Additionally, you'll have more chances to build connections with industry professionals and join field visits to research centers, agronomic sites, and farms. This program prepares you for the industry, with opportunities for self-directed experiments at Curtin's specialized field-trial location and glasshouse facilities. Throughout the course, you can engage in work experience and field tours that help you establish networks across agricultural sectors, interacting with professionals in agricultural research, production, and management from government and industry. You'll collaborate with the Centre for Crop and Disease Management; CSIRO; government agriculture departments; agribusiness, agronomy, and financial advisors; research-trial operators; farmers; and grain traders.
