The Bachelor of Information Technology is a three-year full-time [or part-time equivalent] program designed to provide students with comprehensive knowledge of core IT theories and practices essential for professionals working in evolving business environments. While offering a wide-ranging IT curriculum that includes programming, networking, security, and data management, the BIT specifically emphasizes Software Development and Cyber Security.

Students will gain expertise in fundamental IT principles, technical concepts, and management strategies that guide IT professionals. They'll learn to apply their IT capabilities across various industry scenarios while building specialized knowledge in database systems, networking, security, and/or software development. The program fosters collaborative teamwork skills and teaches students to leverage technology for problem-solving and information generation. Graduates will be equipped to offer expert IT consultation, applying their knowledge with ethical consideration and clear communication.

Qualification Requirements

Students whose first language is not English must demonstrate competency in the English language. English proficiency can be demonstrated by providing proof of an International English Language Testing System (IELTS) overall test result of 6.0 (no band lower than 5.5 and writing at 6 or above) or equivalent English language test such as TOEFL or PTE.

Other acceptable evidence of English proficiency includes:

Completion of secondary education/undergraduate degree via the medium of English; or

Successful completion of Year 12 secondary schooling in Australia (minimum of 1 school year to be completed in Australia within the last 2 years); or

Successful completion of an Australian qualification recognised as at least AQF Certificate IV (minimum period of study of 1 school year within the last 2 years); or

Successful completion of a Tertiary Studies Foundation Program (minimum period of study of 1 school year).

International students who do not meet the specified English proficiency requirements may undertake an ELICOS (English Language Intensive Courses for Overseas Students) program prior to undertaking the course.

In addition, all students (domestic and international) must be 18 years of age or over at the time that they commence the course for which they have applied.
