Our classical studies graduate programs enable you to delve into the languages, writings, and myths of ancient Greece and Rome, along with their historical, cultural, and societal aspects. This study broadens your understanding not just of antiquity but also provides valuable insights into contemporary society.

The University excels in both linguistic/literary studies and ancient historical research. Our literary expertise particularly shines in Greek and Roman epic poetry, though we engage with all literary forms. Historians here cover Greek and Roman civilizations from early archaic times through the Roman Empire, with access to the extensive collections of the ANU Classics Museum.

The analytical, interpretive, and writing skills you'll develop are in high demand across professions. Exploring foreign cultures expands your worldview, while studying Ancient Greek and Latin enhances your awareness of language usage and composition. Alumni have pursued careers in academia, public service, museum curation, education, journalism, and library sciences.
