For centuries, humanity has strived to comprehend our planet's inner workings. Earth Science explores intricate systems, combining chemistry, physics, mathematics, and biology to decipher the forces that mold our world. This field addresses critical contemporary challenges like resource availability (including energy and water), climate change, and natural disasters.

The Earth Science major investigates our planet's origins - from its formation as one of many solar-orbiting bodies to the development of rocks, oceans, and atmosphere that enabled life. Over the last five decades, we've recognized planetary mobility through plate tectonics theory. Plate interactions create earthquakes, mountain ranges, and volcanic activity. Beyond studying these fundamental global processes, Earth Scientists research resource formation. A growing focus involves analyzing past and current climate systems by examining connections between the lithosphere, oceans, atmosphere, and biosphere.

Learning Objectives
Collect and analyze data across Earth Science specialties using diverse methodologies.
Acquire both theoretical knowledge and practical skills essential for Earth Sciences.
Comprehend Geology's historical development, key debates, and their impact on modern Earth Science.
Utilize understanding of temporal (continental, oceanic, and biological evolution across billions of years) and spatial (from microscopic to planetary scales) dimensions in various applications.
