Cutting-edge, interdisciplinary research is essential for uncovering sustainable solutions. The Sustainability Studies program equips students with foundational knowledge and practical abilities to create research initiatives that tackle intricate environmental and sustainability challenges. It centers on a core curriculum emphasizing research methodologies and design, offering options in quantitative, qualitative, and spatial analysis techniques. These competencies are further honed and implemented across various research-focused and policy-oriented courses. This is an experiential program, incorporating numerous opportunities for small-scale research projects throughout its curriculum.
The program is designed to enhance subject-specific minors (such as Soil and Land Management, Climate Science and Policy, or Environmental Policy) by cultivating versatile research capabilities and grounding them in the context of solving complex sustainability problems. Successful completion at the required level provides excellent preparation for fourth-year Honours and is ideal for students pursuing sustainability careers or advanced research degrees.
