The Earth and Marine Sciences specialization is designed for students with background knowledge in Earth Science, Marine Science, or related fields (such as Chemistry, Mathematics, Physics, Biology, Environmental Science, or Engineering), who wish to pursue an independent research project under faculty supervision. Typically spanning two full-time semesters, this program offers research methods training, optional instruction in analytical techniques, data science, computational geosciences, and advanced coursework, alongside a significant research component (24-36 units) that concludes with an Honours thesis. Together, these elements prepare graduates for professional opportunities in various industry and government sectors, as well as for advanced academic pursuits at the Master's or Ph.D. level.
