The Australian National University (ANU) is at the forefront of International Relations education. Our curriculum begins by exploring the historical and intellectual foundations that shaped the modern nation-state system since the 1600s. The program then focuses on 20th-century developments, covering the World Wars and Cold War eras, before examining current global challenges. These include the international political economy, worldwide cultural exchanges, environmental crises, and post-Cold War conflicts such as the 'War on Terror'.

Our adaptable program allows students to expand their language studies into a specialization, with opportunities for overseas exchange programs or international internships.
