The Chemistry Honours program is designed for students with a solid background in the subject who wish to pursue independent research under faculty supervision. Typically completed full-time over two consecutive semesters, this specialization combines research training, advanced study of contemporary theories, and a major research project that results in a thesis. It establishes core research competencies and serves as a springboard for diverse career paths, including scientific and non-scientific fields, while also providing a potential route to doctoral studies in chemistry.
Learning Outcomes
Design and conduct an autonomous, sustained critical examination of a selected research topic to contribute novel insights to chemical science.
Critically assess pertinent theories and principles in chemistry, connect them to suitable methodologies and evidence, and formulate well-reasoned conclusions.
Examine and interpret original research findings in chemistry
Acquire and apply relevant experimental techniques and methodologies in chemistry to gather original research data.
