The astronomy and astrophysics honors specialization is designed for students with a fundamental understanding of the discipline who wish to pursue advanced coursework and conduct independent research under faculty supervision. Typically completed full-time over two consecutive semesters, this program combines research training, thorough examination of key field concepts, and a significant research project culminating in a thesis. Honors provides essential research skills and serves as a gateway to careers in astrophysics, physics, applied mathematics, statistics, science communication, computer science, or as preparation for a PhD in Astronomy and Astrophysics.
