The War Studies program at ANU provides an in-depth examination of warfare's origins, execution, and outcomes. Moving past conventional military history, it addresses war's multifaceted nature as a phenomenon with significant political, military, social, and cultural dimensions. Rooted in historical analysis, this major enables students to investigate conflict through an interdisciplinary lens, incorporating perspectives from political science, international relations, cultural and gender studies, and legal frameworks. Graduates will gain comprehensive theoretical and practical knowledge to evaluate warfare and critically assess various interpretations. Additionally, the program enhances students' research capabilities, evidence evaluation skills, and proficiency in constructing compelling written and verbal arguments.
