This program combines the examination of modern Middle Eastern and Central Asian politics, history, international affairs, culture, economic systems, commerce, and Islamic studies within the context of evolving global dynamics.
The curriculum focuses on key topics related to political and societal transformations, economic advancement, and regional stability, considering factors like sectarian divisions, ethnic and linguistic variety, ideological differences, foreign interventions, and geopolitical competition.
Learning Outcomes
identify and interpret the cultural, religious, governmental, and economic frameworks of the Middle East and Central Asia along with their historical evolution;
examine both current and past interactions among Middle Eastern and Central Asian nations, as well as their relations with countries outside the region;
assess modern political and social occurrences that influence the Middle East and Central Asia and determine their worldwide impact; and
evaluate historical and current events through a multicultural lens.
