The Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) is granted for advanced research, requiring candidates to advance knowledge in their selected discipline. A PhD can be pursued through three distinct approaches:
Traditional PhD: Evaluation focuses on a thesis of approximately 100,000 words.
PhD by Publication: Assessment involves a shorter thesis (around 50,000 words) compiling multiple journal-ready articles.
PhD by Creative Project: Candidates are judged on both a thesis and an artistic output, which may encompass performances, art exhibitions, written works, designs, films, digital media, software, or other creative productions.
Duration spans three years full-time, potentially extendable by six to twelve months
If applicants have an overseas qualification/s from an institution where English is not the standard language of instruction, they will need to meet ACU’s English proficiency requirements, e.g Academic IELTS 6.5 (including individual scores of 6.0 for all tests).
