Tailored for graduates who have finished a Masters by coursework or an Honours Bachelor degree, our Master of Philosophy is entirely research-based and spans two years of full-time study. With mentorship from an experienced research supervisor, you'll design and execute your own independent research project on a subject you're deeply passionate about. The program offers the freedom to explore topics aligned with your personal interests and professional field. This self-directed degree has no classes or coursework—instead, you'll meet progress milestones to stay on track toward completing your thesis or creative output. Your journey will culminate in producing a significant thesis or creative work with an accompanying exegesis, followed by an oral defense before an examination panel. Recognizing the challenges of juggling studies with work, family, and other responsibilities, the program is designed with flexibility in mind. You can opt for full-time or part-time study to accommodate your existing commitments while advancing your academic aspirations.
For admission to a Master of Philosophy degree, you will need to have completed either (or equivalent to):
