Tailored for graduates who have finished a Masters by coursework or an Honours Bachelor degree, our Master of Philosophy is entirely research-based and spans two years of full-time study. With mentorship from an accomplished research supervisor, you'll conceptualize, design, and execute your own independent research project on a subject you're deeply passionate about. You'll also enjoy the freedom to explore a personally meaningful topic relevant to your discipline. This self-guided program has no formal classes or coursework obligations. Instead, you'll meet periodic progress milestones to ensure steady advancement toward completing your thesis or creative output. Your journey will culminate in producing a significant thesis or creative piece with accompanying analysis, followed by an oral defense before an examination panel. We recognize the challenges of juggling studies with professional, family, and personal obligations. That's why we've built flexibility into our Master of Philosophy program—offering both full-time and part-time study options to help you achieve your academic ambitions while maintaining your current responsibilities. A research degree represents an intensive scholarly pursuit that enables profound exploration of your chosen subject. As you progress, you'll tackle sophisticated intellectual, creative, and practical problems. Whether your aspirations include becoming an authority in your field, securing more specialized or lucrative positions, or translating research into groundbreaking innovations, obtaining a research degree opens doors to countless possibilities.
