This unique program is South Australia's sole offering in its field, equipping you for a fulfilling career in the specialized domain of nuclear medicine.

Launch your promising career as a nuclear medicine technologist, tasked with preparing and administering radiopharmaceuticals to assess organ functionality and diagnose or treat medical conditions.
Students participating in degree-related activities involving patient or public interaction, including clinical placements, field visits, or university clinic work, must satisfy mandatory pre-placement conditions. These encompass police clearances, Working with Children Checks, and vaccination prerequisites. Refer to the Clinical Placement Unit for detailed requirements and complete student checklists.

All candidates enrolled in professional registration programs must register with their respective national board. The Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (AHPRA) manages this process, with the University notifying AHPRA post-enrollment.
Nuclear medicine professionals require expertise in safely preparing and administering radiopharmaceuticals to assess organ systems and diagnose or treat illnesses. Your studies will encompass radioactive substance handling while developing essential interpersonal abilities like communication and teamwork.

First-year studies concentrate on foundational sciences underpinning medical radiation practice, including anatomy, physiology, pathology, and radiation physics. These fundamental courses establish the scientific basis for medical radiation applications.

You'll implement these principles during clinical placements starting in your second year and continuing through subsequent years.

Your education will include regular preparatory workshops to enhance your skills as you progress toward advanced practice areas.
