Focusing on advocacy and fairness, you'll collaborate with individuals, communities, and organizations across sectors to tackle pressing health concerns while developing solutions for worldwide health problems.
The program teaches varied strategies like policy creation; data interpretation and presentation; media campaigns; public outreach; community education and preventive measures to drive meaningful impact. These approaches can help combat major health challenges including communicable diseases, cardiovascular conditions, cancer, and psychological health.
Gain 200 hours of practical experience through partnerships with local advisory boards, professional associations, municipal governments, and related organizations. This hands-on component provides career insights and networking opportunities during your studies.
You'll develop the expertise, abilities, and qualities needed to excel as an innovative public health professional.
The curriculum covers social and commercial influences on health, teaching you to work with diverse populations using culturally appropriate strategies. You'll master evaluation fundamentals, appreciate firsthand health experiences, understand advocacy's role, and learn ethical health communication. The program also trains you in epidemiological methods to analyze health trends, from mental health rates to emerging connections between risk factors and conditions like diabetes, cancer, and COVID-19.
Applicants are required to meet one of the following criteria with a competitive result, and demonstrate that they fulfil any prerequisite requirements and essential requirements for admission:
Recent secondary education:
Meet any prerequisite requirements with a minimum grade of C- or equivalent and
Complete secondary qualifications equivalent to SACE, or
Complete the International Baccalaureate Diploma with a minimum score of 24 points
or
Higher education study
Complete or partly complete a recognized higher education program at a recognized higher education institution
or
Vocational Education and Training (VET)
Complete an award from a registered training organisation at Diploma or above
Complete a Certificate IV in Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander Primary Health Care, or
Complete a Certificate IV in Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander Primary Health Care Practice
or
Work and life experience
Hold completed secondary qualifications equivalent to SACE obtained more than 2 years in the past
English language requirements:
IELTS score of 6.5; TOEFL iBT score of 79 with no band less than 20; TOEFL paper-based test (PBT) score of 577 with TWE of 5.0; Cambridge CAE/CPE score of 177; Pearson's test of English (Academic) (PTE) score of 58 with no communicative score less than 58; CELUSA score of AE5.
