Our program is designed in collaboration with industry to provide a direct route to becoming a certified surveyor, with support and partial funding from the Surveyors Board of South Australia. Students build a solid civil engineering foundation while mastering advanced surveying techniques through immersive learning experiences like field trips, hands-on projects, applied research, and a 12-week professional placement.

We provide numerous dual-degree options, allowing students to specialize in two disciplines and enhance their career opportunities. This accelerated program lets you complete two bachelor's degrees concurrently in less time than pursuing them separately. Combine this with a civil engineering degree to stand out in the job market after graduation. Discover more.

The Bachelor of Engineering (Honours) (Surveying) employs an industry-driven, project-based curriculum to train licensed surveyors capable of working in multidisciplinary teams to address complex challenges with cultural sensitivity. Students connect with professionals through guest lectures, applied research initiatives, and 12 weeks of industry exposure, ensuring practical learning and job readiness.

The first year covers fundamental engineering principles before progressing to specialized subjects like surveying, remote sensing, cartography, photogrammetry, and business management. The honors year features a significant industry-supported research project, often in collaboration with organizations like our Centre for Water Management & Reuse, alongside practical workplace experience applying learned skills.

Career prospects:

Graduates can pursue roles with surveying firms, engineering practices, architectural studios, and land development companies, often working with property owners, utilities, and government agencies on development projects.

Australia faces an anticipated shortage of surveying professionals, creating strong employment prospects for graduates over the coming decade.
