Mechanical engineering spans a wide range of industries, including robotics, automation, manufacturing, defense, aerospace, mining, construction, and energy sectors.
The Bachelor of Engineering (Honours) (Mechanical) equips students to develop innovative solutions for real-world problems. The program covers cutting-edge topics in machinery design, advanced materials, manufacturing processes, and sustainable energy solutions.
Accredited by Engineers Australia, this practical degree emphasizes hands-on learning, allowing students to apply theoretical knowledge to actual engineering challenges. The final year includes both an honors research project and an industry-oriented design project.
Through UniSA's STEM Professional Practice Program, students complete at least 450 hours of skill-building activities to enhance career readiness. The program offers diverse opportunities including internships, industry lectures, networking events, and site visits. Learn about the industry experience from graduates William, Franke, and Teresa.
The flexible first-year structure allows students to explore different engineering specializations while earning transferable credits. This means you can change your specialization after first year and still complete your degree in four years of full-time study.
This program is delivered at the Mawson Lakes campus.
First-year studies establish fundamental engineering knowledge in programming, mathematics, and physics. Advanced coursework later covers dynamics, fluid mechanics, thermodynamics, mechanical design, digital prototyping, and renewable energy technologies.
The UniSA STEM Professional Practice Program provides opportunities to implement academic learning in professional environments.
This four-year honors degree includes specialized research and professional practice components. Graduates receive First, Second, or Third Class Honors based on academic performance.
Students graduate with valuable industry experience, professional networks, and a qualification that exceeds standard bachelor degrees. The honors year prepares graduates for leadership positions in mechanical engineering.
