This one-year Honours program provides advanced training in research methodologies, analytical reasoning, and academic writing.
Working closely with an assigned faculty advisor, you'll develop either a traditional thesis or a creative project accompanied by scholarly analysis, gaining specialized expertise in your chosen discipline.
The program emphasizes original research culminating in either a written dissertation or a practical creation with explanatory documentation. Potential research areas include:
Indigenous Australian knowledge systems and Australian cultural studies
Global affairs, political science, conflict resolution, Asian regional studies, and international security analysis
Language acquisition research and linguistic applications
Social theory, community services, and societal research
Mass communication, media theory, cultural analysis, and strategic communication
Professional writing and creative composition
Literary theory and criticism
News media, business communication, and technical documentation
Digital culture and interactive media studies
Cinematic arts, screen theory, and performance studies
Entry into the Honours program will be available to students who have successfully completed an undergraduate degree or equivalent with an overall grade point average of 5 or above (credit level average). In addition applicants need to have achieved:
An average grade of credit or better in their undergraduate degree in the topic area they wish to study at honours level; and
In the case of graduates from another approved degree a record of academic achievement equal to a credit or better in the topic area they wish to study at honours level
Applicants are selected on the basis of academic merit and the availability of a supervisor in the proposed area of research.
English language requirements:
IELTS score of 6.0; TOEFL iBT score of 60 with Reading and Writing not less than 18; TOEFL paper-based test (PBT) score of 550 with TWE of 4.5; Cambridge CAE/CPE score of 169; Pearson's test of English (Academic) (PTE) score of 50 with Reading and Writing communicative scores not less than 50; CELUSA score of AE4.
